| Operation
Set up of the system will
depend on the complexity of the system. Single test site
systems with output to the second tray are the easiest,
while multiple test sites with vision and tape output may
be the most difficult. In the easier cases, it will be
possible to set up an entire job from the microterminal,
while in other cases it will be necessary to use the Exatron-supplied
set up software, running on a PC or laptop with Windows
'95.
The Model 800 handlers are manually loaded -- that
is the operator will put trays of devices on the tray
carriages, which have spring-loaded retainers to hold
the trays square and tight. The trays are then covered
by an interlocked clear plexiglas cover.
After starting the job, there is little for the operator
to do but wait for the process to finish. When done,
the system will return the tray(s) to the input position
for manual replacement.
In addition to the handler itself, operators may be
called upon to set up external systems such as programmers,
vision systems, labelling systems, or other accessories.
