Options
- Test/Programming
Sites
| The Model 900
was originally designed as a small-scale
programming system for tray-borne devices.
Thus, it is capable of incorporating one
or more programming/test sites.
Programmer interfaces exist for System
General, BP, Data I/O, Altera, Xilinx,
and custom/in house programmers. In addition,
the 802 can dock to a variety of test
sites for RF, functional, open/short
and other testing.
The maximum number of test/programming
sites depends in large part on the size
and pitch of the test sites. Given that
the Y-axis lead screw must be limited
in total length, smaller test sites which
can be placed closer together provide
for a greater total number of possible
test sites.

- P.I.
Test Sites
As with all other handlers, the 900 is available with a wide
variety of Particle Interconnect test
sockets.
- Vision
Systems
An important application for the Model 900 series will be lead
and mark inspection for tray-borne devices. The 900 Series handlers
can incorporate vision systems in place of or in addition to
test sites.
- Tape
and Reel Systems
The
Exatron Model 1050 automated tape and
reel system can dock to the 800 series
handlers to create a simple and economical
tray-to-tape transfer machine. In addition
the tape output can be used for devices
which pass test/programming and/or
visual inspection.
- Labelling
Systems
The
Model 900
series handler
will make
a snappy
low-to-medium
volume labelling
system for
surface mount
devices.
Exatron incorporates
the Zebra
brand 90XiII
label printer
for superior
print quality
and placement
accuracy.
Labels are
available
in a variety
of sizes
and print
ribbons are
available
in a choice
of colors.
The Model 900 can be configured as a hot or cold tester. Using a servo controlled
hot or cold test head carriage, the system creates a temperature controlled
environment around the device under test. The differential temperature system
can range from -55°C to +155°C with an accuracy of +/- 1°C. Embedded
thermocouples within the test head measures the component temperature and
will perform testing when the specified temperature has been reached. Typical
soak times are under four seconds.
The Model 900 series handler
can be configured with a labeling
system to print and apply labels to surface mount
devices. Exatron incorporates the Zebra brand 90XiII
label printer for superior print quality and placement
accuracy. Labels are available in a variety of sizes
and print ribbons are available in a choice of colors.
A 90 degree rotation feature
allows devices from the input source to be turned in
order to orient the them correctly with test and/or
inspection hardware. The device can then be rotated
back, or not, depending on the output configuration.
Inspection is
performed between the input, test site and the output.
This is useful in determining proper orientation before
testing and taping. Please contact Exatron for additional
inspection options.
Gold part trays
are available for benchmarking test performance during
production. Exatron software can track yields and instruct
the system to test a gold part after a defined number
of cycles, when yield levels drop or the controlling
tester commands the system to do so.
Test site options include, single
site clamping with the pick up head, single
or multi-site self-actuating pneumatic sockets and
single or multi-site pneumatic clamping assemblies.
Device inputs are
available for JEDEC trays, “mini-tray” die
boxes, de-taper/part feeders and tube feeders.
Outputs can be configured for JEDEC
trays, “mini-tray” die boxes, output
tube holders designed for your tubes, or a Model
1080 Automatic Taper with 8 to 72 mm tape support.
The Exatron Manipulator
eliminator puts you in control of docking
the Model 900 to larger test heads. This
integrated table/elevator allows the operator to
raise the Model 900 and its table up off the floor
and onto wheels. This enables the units to be positioned
over a horizontal test head and slowly lowered down
until guide pins on the test site align and settle
onto corresponding guides on the test board.
