Operation
The AutoScan 4000 employs a single Pick & Place with dual Pick-up
Heads, allowing the transfer of two components at once. This greatly
increases the productivity of the system making it capable of transferring
components in excess of 2000 units per hour.
To perform the lead inspections, the AutoScan 4000 employs
an UltraVim or UltraVim Plus Inspection Module manufactured
by Scanner
Technologies Corporation. Scanner Technologies offers
two models of Inspection Modules. The UltraVim is capable
of inspecting Gull Wing and J-lead devices with 3D technology.
The UltraVim Plus Inspection Module is capable of 3D Ball
Grid Array Inspection as well as the Gull Wing and J-lead
capability of the standard Ultra Vim. Both models operate
at high speed and precision without any customer calibration
at any time.
There are three modes of operation available to an operator.
Mode One will inspect devices and sort them placing good
devices in a separate tray and returning reject devices
into the supply tray. Mode Two inspects devices returns
all parts back to the supply tray then posts a "map" detailing
the results in a graphic display. The Third Mode is simply
tray to tray transfer without inspection.
