The
3000B-L can be operated in any combination of test and
labelling (i.e., it can be a test only machine, a test
and label machine, or a label only machine). The operator
chooses the preferred method of operation from the front
panel display during start-up of the handler.
Devices
are loaded into the handler from whatever input method
is used on that handler, typically an octoloader with
eight plastic shipping tubes. The devices are singulated
into the test site for the test/programming step. If
the machine is in label-only mode, the test step is skipped.
Once past the test site, the part slides into the label
site. The label printer has printed out another label
in the meantime, which is picked up by the label apply
arm and placed on the device. The device is then sorted
into the output tubes.
In addition to setting up the handler, the operator
will have to set up the labeller; that is feed it with
labels and print ribbon. The labeller unit slides out
from the handler on a drawer to provide easy access to
the labeller unit.
